Watch VideosI was online through LDS Planet and then went to phone text messages and got to know this guy who lived far away from me. He decided that he would come out and meet me and we did dates. For instance, hiking in the mountains, bringing a sack lunch. Another date was going to Disneyland. Another date was doing yard work. Another date was going to the beach. Another date was going to the library, picking out your favorite books. Another date was trying to find your most favorite poetry book or your favorite mystery book at the library. I went to the temple, the LDS temple, and walked the grounds. I played a musical instrument so I shared that on a date. So lots of really fun dates are the best. Just keep having a good time.
One of my favorite dates to go on is to actually just do a picnic and then to go on a walk or to play games in the park, whatever you do. I just love being in nature and kind of just being separated from everything and being able to talk and enjoy some good food and then just having a simple activity. I think when you keep things simple there's just a lot of fun memories that can come from it.
Through not very much effort of my own, it was just kind of this magical experience where everything seemed to work. We went and got pizza, it's a really good pizza place, and then I'm from Springville, in the city of Springville there's Art City Days, and that night there was a free concert and fireworks afterwards, and the concert was really good. It was a Billy Joel impersonator, and that was awesome, and then we just sat there and watched the fireworks afterward, and she said she loved it, I loved it, it was just a really good kind of casual, fun experience. I think I've tried to repeat it before, but it just never has really worked out like it did that night.
I love ballroom dancing and so I invited my date, my guy, to meet me at my dance lessons at the dance studio and so he came and we had dance lessons together and because he danced for one of the BYU teams, he knew a lot about dancing and so I was really excited. That was one of the qualities I really liked about him and that is his ballroom dancing. Really, really good and now we are doing professional showcase ballroom dance dances and preparing for some performances and of course I married him so it was great.
One of my favorite dates I ever went on, we cooked together, but like one of us was blindfolded and the other person had to help that person make the dinner and we made chicken cordon bleu, which sounds like a weird thing to make like blindfolded, but like it was actually really fun and ended up being one of my favorite dates. I feel like doing just fun things like that really help you get to know like the person in a way that like they just kind of let their guard down and are just are more comfortable with you and show their true self, so that date was just really fun.
One of my favorite dates has been when we actually went to this place, I think it's called Chocolate Factory, and we made chocolate. I think that was a really fun activity just because like, yes, my date was fun, but also we were able to do something together that was different. And also, a lot of people usually really like chocolate, and even though I don't really like chocolate, it was nice to just be able to kind of play with the different flavors and also just talk about what we like and don't like about chocolate and what we like to put with it. So I feel like it was a fun activity where I could still have a conversation with the person, but then also be able to enjoy making something new. Another fun day I would have to say was actually going on the picnic. I thought that was really nice.
One of my favorite dates to do is geocaching. I didn't actually do it for, like I heard about it for a long time and never actually did it, but I finally did it. And it is super fun. You just get an app on your phone, the geocaching app, and you can go with someone. It's super fun. It's almost, it feels like kind of treasure hunting kind of vibe, but it's just a great way to get to know the person, to have fun outside, so I would highly recommend that.
So one of my favorite dates ever was a date where it was for a dance, but for the day date, we went rock climbing in the morning and we did that for a little while. That was a lot of fun. And then afterwards, we went to a racquetball court to play volleyball. If you're not familiar with what that is, it's basically just volleyball, but you can use the walls. So we did that as a group and that was really fun. And then we let our dates go and get ready and everything. And we went to the dance. Rock climbing and playing volleyball or wallyball are always just a blast with a big group of people, especially if you all have a date. It makes it more fun.
Some of my favorite dates are craft projects, actually. One of my favorite things to do when I was first dating my now husband, he and I would, we would do different crafts and things like that, and then we would give each other BuzzFeed quizzes to kind of get to know each other and obscure questions, and it was a lot of fun.
Basically, we went to an Asian cafe, tried some food that I'd never tried before, we took it to go, and we drove up one of the canyons here in Utah, and we ate our dinner in the canyon at one of these beautiful, beautiful parks, on the ground, picnic style, and then my date brought out a TV and hooked up a GameCube to a lawnmower battery, and we played Mario Kart Double Dash under the stars, and then finished the night off watching Avatar The Last Airbender, and that by far has been my favorite day ever, hands down.
One of the more unique and really fun dates that I've done is we got a group of friends together and we all went to the grocery store and picked out random items to make unique pancakes and so You don't have to be good at cooking It's super cheap and it's you can get crazy stuff Like I like to cook and so I went super wild. I was like, I'm gonna make a lemon caramel pancake So I did like lemon shavings and caramel drops and melted it turned out really good But other people had like cereal and ice cream and just you could be whatever you want, but it's not hard It's not expensive and it's super fun and unique
Another of my favorite dates, we went to a fair that was happening in our area and it was called Peach Days and we decided to go on a Ferris wheel and I had never been on a Ferris wheel before and for me that was like a dream goal to go and ride on a Ferris wheel and so my husband was so not a fan of heights like at all whatsoever but he really wanted to impress me and so he said that he would go on the ride with me but he didn't tell me how much of not a fan of heights he was and he bravely sat in that car with me and we went up and then we started to go down and he said oh no I'm not okay and we both closed our eyes and just screamed but it was so much fun.
My favorite date ideas I've ever done, and it was so cheap, is me and my friends just went sledding up the canyon and you can go hammock too. It's cheap and it was probably the funnest date I've ever been on.
So my favorite date that I've ever been on has to be my senior high- my senior year high school. We actually took a plane and we flew to Los Angeles and it was sick. So we spent three days just- just kicking it at the beach, just playing volleyball. It was a great time, dude.
I remember one date I went on, it was probably one of the funnest dates I've ever been on. We went to like this cave toward the evening. We brought glow sticks and then we were in there. The girl that I went with brought like candles and we did like these mini s'mores where it was like a Teddy Graham, little like carob chips or chocolate chips and like little mini marshmallows mushed together and made these little mini s'mores. And it was honestly just super super fun. It was fun because it was dark but all the colors were, you know, made it really neat. And I mean, who would have thought of that? It was a mini s'more with Teddy Grahams and marshmallows and chocolate chips. I thought it was really cool.
Another favorite date is birthdays. We went to a really pricey restaurant and as the person came around they had the dessert tray and we said, hey can we see that? And so we figured out that we really like two things. One was a cannonball chocolate and the other was a pecan pie or something like that. And we decided that we would have dessert first. And the waitress was crazy, we were crazy, but we had dessert first. Then we had our main dish and then she brought us a piece of pie for free for because of our birthdays. But it was really great. It was like super fun. The place was interesting and it was a historical place with lots of very informative facts that we could walk around and we can look at. And it was just really great. It was fun to be different and not play on the norm.
The technical first date that my husband and I had, we hadn't gone on a date before and he picked me up and I was very impressed with his outfit because I'd never seen him in anything but work clothes before and we went to, we just kind of wandered around town until he decided, oh let's go get some food, but I wasn't hungry. I had just eaten and so he went to get some food in our, in the car and I didn't want anything so he just got a lime rookie shake and then we went to a park and played on the playground and watched the stars and I had some cards in my pocket and we played cards and then it started raining and we ran back to the car and it was just like a total romantic perfect date. It was so fun.
My husband now, was boyfriend, he gave me a like treasure map kind of thing burnt around the edges and stuff and he had like cowboy talk and I can't remember exactly how it went but he basically said that we're gonna go get some basically cowboy clothes and they were gonna go eat and they were gonna go shoot guns and that was it. So basically what we did was is we went to the thrift store, we bought cowboy shoes, cowboy shirt, we were already wearing jeans and then we went to go eat and we wore our cowboy outfits, our cowboy hats and everything. We went to a restaurant to eat and then from there we went to the gun range and shot guns and it was very fun. I loved it.
Another favorite date is cooking. My boyfriend really liked cooking curry and so he got all the ingredients and I learned how to make curry and then we ate it and it was delicious. It was great. I even learned how to make rice so it was sticky and perfect and then we ate with chopsticks and that was crazy and fun because I didn't do a very good job using chopsticks but I learned well and he was a good teacher and so I learned a new recipe, learned how to make it and learned how to eat rice with chopsticks. That was a fun night.
One of my favorite dates I've been on is we went french fry taste testing. So we just went to different restaurants and tried french fries and then like rated them to find which one's the best. It was super easy but I loved it. It was just fun and chill and we got to eat french fries.
Super fun date, especially now that it's warming up, is to get sidewalk chalk and to just go out and do sidewalk art or along a walking path you can write like inspirational messages. Yeah, just do whatever you want. It's super fun to just draw and be outside.
One of my favorite dates I've ever been on was this boy. He took me to Utah Lake and it was just me and him. He brought a speaker and brought snacks and we had glow sticks and he brought fruit and a bat and so we put the glow sticks on the bats at night and we would throw the fruit to each other and hit the bat. I don't know if this is legal but we hit with the bat the fruit into the lake. I did like Fruit Ninja with the bat hitting the fruit in the lake and the fruit exploded and it was really memorable and fun.
One of my favorite date ideas, I haven't tried it but I do want to try it, is going to a thrift store and picking out your your date's outfit and then using that to go do something like bowling or I don't know like any anything creative just picking out their outfit making it look goofy and then going out and you know getting ice cream or bowling or laser tag or whatever you want to do.
Because I like geocaching a lot, I wanted to introduce my boyfriend to geocaching. So I planned a little note underneath my porch bench, gave him a clue before he came to the house and he had to follow the note through to the next note which would find me outside and it took me to we met up and then we went to each of the caches in my neighborhood that I put out because I knew exactly of course where they were but he didn't so he had his app hooked up I had mine and so he got to see all the geocaches that I put out for the public and then we came back to an area that was like a basketball area where it was like really dark by then and by the way this was a night night geocaching so we had to have headlamps and flashlights and a pencil and but at the end we got to the last place and went dancing underneath the lights
Okay, here's another favorite date. It is geocaching. There are several towns that have a geotour. You need to get the geocaching app. You need to get your username, blah, blah. It doesn't cost you anything unless you want more geocaches. You just have to pay a yearly fee, but it is a blast. You get to know the town the person's from and live in and the different sites that there are to see in that town that are really fun and interesting. We have like a umbrella alley in our town, which is really fun and creative. And it's fun to take pictures of each other being crazy in those places and just pose fun. I don't know if you want to stay on your head, but it's just really fun to find the caches together, work together as a team using both your apps on your phone. Sometimes you'll go away from each other, but you'll come back and you'll have success.
While I was dating my boyfriend, he was very creative. He loved ciphers, he loved secret codes, he loved all that kind of stuff. So he gave me a scroll that were two sticks scrolled together and I had to decode it. And then after I decoded it, then we went on our date. And this date was a princess and prince date. And I had a costume of Elsa and I had a prince costume. So he and I were like prince and Elsa and we went to go see the second Elsa movie. I can't even think of the name right now. So anyway, anyway, it was really fun. We went to the mall and we were getting serious. And so we were looking at rings and a lot of little kids want to take our pictures together.
Favorite date. Okay, first date and I've gone out with this guy three times and we don't see each other anymore because but we're just awesome friends. Went walking um Park City and he's like okay we're gonna walk through the city and we're gonna be a um an old married couple and we are going to know everything about each other as if we're you know so we walk through all of the art um stores and you know we're like putting our arm around each other holding each other's hand and he's like oh remember this dear when you know this picture and painting reminds me of this times as a session and I'm like oh my gosh how do you remember this painting this painting looks like when we did this this and this and that and then just every store we went into we would interact with the owner or the person working as if we were a married couple that knew each other forever and it was just so much fun.
I had planned a scavenger hunt at the mall and I had my backpack with all my extra tools and things like that for the scavenger hunt. So we went to go have dinner. I went at the food court and I got a tablecloth out and I had two like heart-shaped wine glasses and I had my sack lunch with all the food and everything in it. So we're just about ready to eat and this guy turns around and says, it looks like something special is going to happen. Can I take your picture for you? He takes a picture and I mean nothing special happened. It was just special being together and it was just kind of fun because we sat there we ate and nothing really happened and other than eating together and having fun and doing this like awesome scavenger hunt. There are a lot of great ideas on Pinterest about scavenger hunts and even online and they are a blast. They are so much fun. You really get to know the guy you're dating.
Almost a year ago, the girl I'm currently dating and I went to this, it's like a ball, but we actually went to help out one of her friends who was hosting it. So we just worked alongside each other and it didn't go great in terms of what we were trying to work on it and provide. So it just was like really funny and yeah, it just was like a unique way of getting to know them and just was a lot of fun.
My favorite dates have generally been really simple things, just like going to the Museum of Art or walking through a library and just talking, getting to know each other. One of my very favorite dates, though, it was a little bit more involved. We went to see the ice castles in Midway, Utah, and just being in a place that just feels so magical where it's cold and you're with someone that you like. It's just a fun environment, so that was definitely super fun. Highly recommend. It is more expensive, but also a party, and I really liked it.
In Texas, they have what's called Dickens on the Strand on the first weekend in December, and I had booked Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to go to Dickens on the Strand. And so what happened was, he would come with me, I had made my costume, I got his costume all set up, and we basically spent the whole day Friday, and then he drove all the way home, which was about an hour and a half, and then he drove all the way back Saturday, and then we spent the whole day Saturday doing Dickens on the Strand, meeting people in Victorian clothes and contests and stuff, and then he went home. And then I stayed, because I had made reservations just for me, because I met him a long time before I met him, and so then Sunday, he came, picked me up, and we went to church and had another date, which was really great, and we had the most amazing weekend it can happen. It's great.
One of my favorite dates with my husband was the day he ended up asking me to be his girlfriend at the time. We picked up some food, some Cafe Rio, our favorite food, and he drove us out to an overlook point surrounding the lake by our town. And we watched the sunset and ate our food and just enjoyed walking on the beach and throwing stones into the lake, skipping them. And then we drove around to different places on the mountains and up to a couple different towns and then back home. And at the end of the night, we did some stargazing. And right before I went inside, he asked me to be his girlfriend. And it was one of the most sweetest things ever. And it just so happened to be on my favorite number. The date was, it was great.
Some of my favorite dates have been dates from home, things that are inexpensive, you don't have to do anything elaborate or super huge and exciting. My husband and I on our first date actually just went around BYU campus and he brought like a mini soccer ball and a little trash can that hadn't been used and we created our own miniature golf course with a soccer ball and it was super fun. I've been on lots of dates where we just cooked a meal together, inexpensive and just good quality time spent together. You can also go bowling for really cheap at a lot of places, especially in college towns where there's like 10 to midnight. They also have like college skating night and there's just lots of different things you can do and be creative with date ideas. It doesn't always have to be something expensive or going to do an expensive dinner, it can just be something fun and easy from home.
So one of my favorite dates is we did $10 per couple So the guy obviously brought $10 and then he did $5 per person And we just got a big group and went to Walmart and then everybody bought something that was under $5 Then we had a big white elephant gift like just a big white elephant party So that was a lot of fun. We had some kind of crazy things that ended up being handed out But it was very entertaining and memorable. So it was one of the first dates with my wife and so it worked out
I was making a bunch of Christmas presents and I sew a lot and so I asked him if he would help me and next thing I know he is showing me his sewing machine and he says he only used it once when he was a kid and he made these bags and made a bag that his mom helped him with but he had the sewing machine and so I showed him how to make these towels to hang in the kitchen and he sewed a and so did I and we had a blast. Of course he made some mistakes, had to rip out stuff but it was fun. It was fun being brave and me teaching him and him learning and then him having success and later I can't remember the date but he taught me something and I made mistakes but I had success.
My favorite dates have been more on the spontaneous side. So we have started with an event like going to the movies or going to a reception or a party or something like that and then afterwards just hanging out and going with the flow. And usually it just turns out to just be an awesome night. One of the times we learned how to drive a stick shift and we danced in a parking lot or we made a cake with other people and it was just so much fun and I highly recommend just going with the flow and rolling with it.
One of my favorite dates was country swing dancing. We went to Peak Nights in Provo and it was really cheap and it was just really fun because the person I went with like knew how to do it but if you don't know how to do it there are people there who can teach you and it was not something that I thought I would like but I ended up having a ton of fun. It's just really chill and just fun like when you're not dancing like you can go just like sit down and like chat with the person. It's a really fun social date.
