My best safety advice, I think, would be to keep your phone with you at all times, but to keep it safe because that's something that someone can easily take from you is your phone or even your passport. So make sure to keep those really safe, maybe in a cross-body bag, so that way you can have it right in front of you and you can see if anyone ever tries to take it from you.

My bus safety advice when traveling is to keep important documents on your person, and even if it's in a bag, I always hold my hand over where either the zipper of the bag is or the snaps on the bag, because you just never know what's going to happen if there are people that could be pickpockets there, and that would be my safety advice for your important documents. For staying safe while traveling, I always recommend having people that have your location and telling people where you're going that are close to you that can kind of follow you.
