How I got my job

Video 1 - Transcription

Hey guys, so how I got my job? I'm actually an optometric receptionist, technician, and a scribe at a private practice. So I got this job by just being in the pre-optometry club at my undergraduate university and that's how I got the job. So I recommend either reaching out cold emailing different offices to see if they have any positions open or just going online. Sometimes people can find employees through things like LinkedIn and things like that, so check those out.

So during my third year of optometry school, I was advised to start sending out letters to all the optometrists in the area of where I wanted to work. I sent a letter to an ophthalmologist in the area as well as a couple other optometrists and when I was visiting during my fourth year, I interviewed at some of those places and I started working at one of those places that I sent a letter to. After three years, it didn't really work out the way I'd planned at that location and I ended up talking with another person that I interviewed with during that same time. So those initial interviews is what landed me where I'm at today and I've been there at that clinic for 17 years now. It's been great.
