- I worry we are close to turning into another West Jordan…Lots of busy roads, lots of people, lots of apartments. Fewer pastures and country roads being converted to neat curb-and-gutter neighborhoods. I understand that people want to profit from the development of their land. But, starter homes mean less permanent families for the area. My restful environment with long-term neighbors is being threatened to turn into the constant rush of an over-populated suburb. - The 4th of July activities in the park is a family tradition. My children of all ages love the park. We enjoy the monthly community concerts when we can attend. We are always using the trails for walking and biking. Those trails are a great asset to the community. We are close enough to entertainment in neighboring cities that we don’t need to add more to our home-base. (Kimberly, 22 years)

What’s the crime like in West Bountiful?

- It is the strong sense of community that we enjoy here that becomes especially evident when there is a crisis. I saw the community pull together after the severe windstorm several years ago. It didn’t matter where you went to church or who were. Everyone helped their neighbor. My family loves the parade and seeing people we love, kids have grown up with, and people that we admire both in the parade and along the street watching it. As I think about memories that involve “West Bountiful”, I can’t help but acknowledge the sense of community we enjoy here that I believe is unique to our little town. (Kimberly, 22 years)
- The city fireworks are a family tradition. We sit in the same place each year, come early, and like to talk to all our neighbors and friends. The parade is always a great part of the day’s (or several days’) events. We love them. (Mark, 25 years)

How do you think West Bountiful will change over the next 10 years?

- More houses (unfortunately). Other than that, the city seems to improve the parks, roads, etc. (Jason, 18 years)
- I hope it doesn’t change. My concern is that someone will decide we need to improve the city, and start making changes where no changes were needed. If West Bountiful needs to be improved, then those who feel that way shouldn’t move here. I think it’s important to maintain infrastructure, improve parks, and fix the roads. But, there is also a distinctive rural, community atmosphere I would hope is recognized and guarded as “progress” growth threatens the reasons why people like living in West Bountiful. If you wanted to add things to the city, maybe a little city museum as part of the city building with artifacts and pics of the past. The McKean barn is probably coming down. Is anyone documenting that history? We have great wetlands to the west. Could we add a bird reserve and boardwalk area out there? Probably unreasonable ideas, but those types of improvements are better than more neighborhoods, in my opinion. (Kimberly, 22 years)
