Switzerland is known for its chocolate and one time some of our kids came to visit and they only had carry-ons just like young people do, little backpacks, but they wanted to bring back all this chocolate. So just before they left, my son-in-law put everything that he owned on so that he could fill his backpack with chocolate. We took them to the chocolate factory. In fact, we took many people to the chocolate factory. It reminded me of I Love Lucy when the chocolates were coming and you had to taste all the different chocolates. So after one time being there, I loved taking other people there, but I always knew it would be a big indulgence if I did the tour more than once.
Rivela is an amazing soft drink that tastes like Smarties or Rockets, depending on where you're from. Kind of tangy and is actually made from milk extract. It's delicious. It's a very Swiss thing from all over the country. Fondue is amazing. So a good Swiss fondue, mixture of three different types of cheese. It really is amazing with bread and extremely traditional. There's so many delicious types of Swiss cheese. Röstis are an extremely popular dish in Switzerland. A rösti is basically a sort of giant hash brown thing. Sometimes there's bacon in it. Sometimes there's cheese in it. Sometimes it's eaten with onions, heated up in a frying pan.
At Christmas time, raclette is so good. It's just like potatoes with this special cheese melted over it. My mouth is watering right now. So good.
