So it's just roti which is basically like a kind of like a tortilla that they'll make and then they will when it's warm they'll put it in coconut milk and then you eat it that way where it's dipped in coconut milk and you have it with your coco or your like lemon leaf tea and it is just so like belly warming and so so good. I love it so much.
I love dal and roti and so dal is it's an Indian dish and it's like lentils that are boiled for a really long time with onions and they can add tomatoes they can add a lot of stuff and then you eat it with the roti which is kind of like a tortilla it's so good that is one of my favorite meals I'll make it when I'm home here too and it's just one of the best things you'll have in my opinion
I love ika wakamiti, basically fish cooked in coconut milk with a little lime juice, and it is delicious. Also, ota wakamiti is one that really surprised me. It's basically a, I think English it's called the vegetable fern, basically steamed and cooked a little bit, but then you just pour the coconut milk and lime juice combination over it, and it was just delicious. I could down so much of that. Those I'd have to say would probably be my top two, but you'll also find anything cooked in a lovo. The earth ovens is always super delicious. Fijians, they're very simple about their food, but darn they do it good, and it is delicious.
One of my favorite foods to have with tea or like with cocoa is panilolo or lolo bun and it's basically bun which is like flour sugar and water that's boiled in coconut milk and it is so so good and so the Fijian way is they'll boil it in the coconut milk and then the Tongan way or Samoan way which you might have it there too as well I certainly did is where they bake it and so it's more like crispy and both of them are just so good because they're warm and they're just like these big yummy squishy yummy tasting balls I don't know they're super fun and different from anything you would try here
One of my very favorite foods that I had in Fiji, super simple, but it was ricey bakalolo. It's basically coconut rice and so this, and I had it when I was out in Taviuni for a while, there was a family there that, we lived on a coconut farm, so we'd cook it every night. We basically cook rice and coconut milk and add sugar at the end and I could just eat that stuff all day. So super, super good, super simple, easy to make at home too, so that's one of my favorites.
