What’s Murray known for?
- People living here for a long time. If you grew up here, there’s a high chance you’ll want to keep living here or in the valley. People in my home ward move into each other’s houses when they want a change. And many people that grew up here end up moving back into my home ward. Good neighborhood (South Wood Park area). - I remember Fashion Place Mall opening and it was a huge deal! I was in sixth grade and my friends and I thought we’d died and gone to heaven! - As children, we used to tube down Cottonwood Creek from 5900 south to Murray Park. When freeway was being built, my friend and I would ride our horses all along the dirt. Seemed like we could go forever without seeing any cars. (Sherry, 55 years)

- It has one of the biggest hospitals I have ever seen, you can see it from across the valley. (Lachelle, 26 years)
- They have removed all the REAL haunted houses and filled the fields, where the devil worshipers used to play, with multi-million dollar houses. (Anonymous, 27 years)
- There’s world class hospital right in our midst, Murray’s close to the transportation hub of the Salt Lake Valley. (Susan, 29 years)

- Where Fashion Place Mall is used to be a huge field that Cottonwood Creek ran through. It was a child’s playground with being able to catch pollywogs in the creek, build tree forts, ride motor scooters from 3rd east to State Street on the dirt paths. It was also a hub for polygamous families with their cows. There was also an underground house off of 3rd east about 6260 south that was completely built underground with a grass roof.
