Splash pad in the summer and snowmen and cocoa in the winter. There are many beautiful trails for hikes or bike rides too. (Kate, 1 year)

What’s the crime like in Eagle Mountain?

City Center seems to have a lot of package stealing and vandalism. (Mary, 8 months)
I’ve heard gun shots, but mostly it seems to be car break-ins and theft from those cars. (Kate, 1 year)
Low to none. A few minor incidents of theft, trespass, etc, but all in all pretty quiet. (Ben, 3 years)

A lot of DUIs. Three is more crime in the areas that have less expensive housing. I know we’ve got a lot of domestic violence and people who immigrated illegally here. (Aubri, 6 years)

Doesn’t matter because people, including the police, tell you it doesn’t happen here. We will continue to escalate in crime problems if this is our attitude. Traditionally it has been low crime rates. (Anonymous, 13 years)

Have good tires, change your locks, lock your cars, be friendly to everyone and you will receive the same. (Kate, 1 year)
Be prepared for enormous growth in the area. Unfortunately, it won’t be safe and quiet out here for long. (Ben, 3 years)

Get on the community Facebook pages because they are a great way to get info fast. If you aren’t Mormon don’t let the Mormons get you down because they can. This is a great place especially when we care about each other regardless of race, religion, etc. (Aubri, 6 years)

I loved when the City Center area got together for a neighborhood party at the park and rented a bounce house and everything. That was fun. (Mary, 8 months)
Walking to the gas station and having so many people say “hi” who I didn’t know. So friendly! (Kate, 1 year)
People need to learn to slow down and come to a stop at stop signs. Almost been T-boned three times at stop signs. (Ben, 3 years)

I am amazed at the amount of trash and things people take out and leave everywhere around the area. They will go out shooting and leave trash everywhere, their TVs, computers, etc. Also the lack of respect of other people’s property- whether it be riding OHVs and hitting sheep, chasing cattle, destroying wheat fields. Before the housing builds in Sweetwater, we used to love watching the tumbleweeds rush by in packs, it was crazy! (Aoeil, 9 years)
I used to write for the local free newspaper and I loved interviewing people and getting their views on whatever. (Janelle, 13 years)
We have a lot of great people here who are trying to protect and preserve our open spaces and wildlife. My favorite memory is the first time I held a kestrel as part of the habitat research and protection project. Also the first time I saw the petroglyphs and worked with the city to help protect them. Some big fires came close to the city on a couple of occasions with the threat of evacuation. (Shane, 16 years)
Our kids have loved the carnival and town parades every June. We love our big Nolan park close by, walking to get snow cones or Redbox. Biking and walking trails and parks. (Cindy, 18 years)

Eagle Mountain’s Future

How do you think Eagle Mountain will change over the next 10 years?

Eagle Mountain will become a lot more populated. (Mary, 8 months)
It’s gonna boom. It’s not gonna be our small town anymore. Which means we will need bigger roads, and traffic will increase, but hopefully so will the equity. (Kate, 1 year)
Unfortunately, it will become a busy metropolitan like everywhere else in Utah County. We have plans to move in the next 3 to 5 years to avoid the growth. (Ben, 3 years)
I’m hoping it will turn into more of a city with Store, Restaurants hopefully a Walmart or Smiths! (Taunie, 3.5 years)

A lot more homes, more traffic issues, higher property taxes, not enough infrastructure in place to handle the increase in homes. Crime has been increasing with the number of homes and yet the officers out don’t seem to keep pace- I expect it to only get worse. One article I saw said Utah County needed to raise property taxes to provide the needed services and it said the sheriffs department was 20 sheriff deputies short in Eagle Mountain- how bad will it be 10 years from now and how high will taxes go. People love to complain and offer opinions on social media, but won’t get involved in the actual city meetings, and voice their opinions to those that run the city. (Jeff, 6 years)
