What’s your favorite thing about living in Orem?

What’s your least favorite thing about living in Orem?

- Construction!! Also the drivers, but that pretty much goes for all of Utah. Half this state needs to go back to drivers ed. It’s also extremely crowded, and it’s only going to get worse. Additionally, the college scene gets old real fast. And University Mall just put up a huge bright billboard screen at the busiest intersection at State and University that’ll burn your retinas if you look at it for longer than 3 seconds. And the homeless have become a problem, people need to stop giving them money. (Austin, 6 years)

What’s the crime like in Orem?
- Pretty low that I’ve noticed. (Danielle, 7 months)

- Non existent? At least not intense crime (I don’t know about the illegal drugs/speeding and stuff). (Whitney, 1.5 years)

Any advice for people moving to Orem?
- Get a good night internet. (Danielle, 7 months)
- Be careful about Utah drivers! Not ALL OF THEM are like this, but many drive like they’re invincible and above the law, which makes them dangerous. You basically need to carefully watch out for them…like you do pedestrians. (Ethan, 1.5 years)

- Do it! Check out which part of Orem before any commitments are made! (Whitney, 1.5 years)
- Bring your car or a bike. (Andrew, 2 years)
- Move here if you want to know your neighbors, and want a safe town for your children. (Braxton, 2 years)

- Good luck getting an apartment! Use KSL Classifieds instead of Craigslist. (Devin, 5 years)
- Try to move to the outer parts of Orem, and avoid inner Orem as much as possible. I’d recommend by the canyon or between I-15 and the lake. Geneva road is exploding right now, lots of new apartments and condos. (Austin, 6 years)

Share an experience you’ve had in Orem (interesting/funny/crazy, etc.):
- SCERA theatre production of Hairspray. It was amazing. The cast was hilarious and the crew were very polite. (Danielle, 7 months)
- My first week living here I had a jeep full of drunk college students cat call me, and invite me to a party. (Miranda, 1 year)
- One time, I saw some people get out of their car to go speak with a homeless person. It was so sweet to see. People are crazy drivers, but they’re also very kind, and want to do the right thing. (Ethan, 1.5 years)
- It took me over a year to make friends. (Rebekah, 1.5 years)
- I would say one of my favorite dates were to the Hale Center Theatre in Orem- I love it! (Whitney, 1.5 years)

- I’ve learned that the Orem Police Department Facebook page is the best government page in the world. (Devin, 5 years)
- Once we had a tremendous lightning storm on July 5th, 2013 and a strike hit right next to my complex, there’s a Youtube video of it. Fireworks are usually awesome and they launch them 3 nights of the year, July 4th, New Years, and Pioneer Day. And UVU has fireworks on other nights too, really great shows, worth going to, and right across the street from Ihop! (Austin, 6 years)

Orem, Utah: The Future
How do you think Orem will change over the next 10 years?
- The changes at university mall may bring more upscale foot traffic and because things are getting ritzier nearby (vineyard and Provo newness). Orem’s older and more situated residents can get left behind. (Danielle, 7 months)

- It’s exploding. Expanding like crazy. I guarantee in 10 years, the areas on the other side of the freeway close to the lake will be full of homes and businesses. Only a few years ago they started building more there and even put in the AMC theater that has nothing next to it, but come 10 years, it’ll be surrounded. (Austin, 6 years)
