Watch VideosThe pay for a member of the House of Representatives in Missouri was $35,000 a year. And on paper you're supposed to work, you know, half a year, January through May, approximately. But the reality was, you know, you work the other six months too, as much as you'd like, but on behalf of your constituents. There was also some compensation involved for traveling and per diem. So after it was all said and done, you know, you felt like you were making about $45,000 a year to do, in my opinion, probably six months of work. So I wasn't doing it for the money, but that was the compensation. And there's a lot of representatives who start out there and then that's kind of a jumping pad to other state employments that pay more.
