Software engineering, maybe more than any other highly paid and highly skilled field, has a lot of different avenues to get into it. The most traditional path, and likely the most recommended path, would be through a traditional four-year bachelor's degree from a well-respected and accredited university. And it's very often through the process of gaining that degree that you build up a professional network, you gain opportunities to attend internships, and a lot of recruiting is very heavily focused on that new grad space when you're just getting started. But aside from that, there's many boot camps and programs for people who may be coming from similar fields in the sciences that can be a great approach if you already have a very technical mindset and maybe a more technical resume, but are looking to break into that field.
