Shingles is a virus that you get once you have chickenpox. So once you've had chickenpox, the virus is inside of your body and it awakens with certain situations that happen to you. For me it was a stress-related thing and the stress can actually stay in your body for up to three months. So after three months you could get shingles without even knowing why.
