Extreme weather
Watch VideosFirst thing I learned about visiting Ireland the first time was the rain. The rain is constant. Even if it doesn't rain like non-stop every day, there's always a little bit of rain in every day, even if it's just 15 minutes. Ireland is called the Emerald Island, so of course the reason why it's so green is because of the rain. If you want to travel to Ireland, I would highly recommend having proper weatherproof jackets and weatherproof shoes, and that goes a long way, because if you want to explore the nature or walk somewhere, you just want to remain dry.
The weather in the Republic of Ireland is pretty mild. The high temperatures would be in the summer went up to about 26-28 degrees Celsius or I'm going to say probably 80-85 degrees. The winter time would go down to zero Celsius or freezing but that was pretty unusual for it to go below freezing in the winter time. So you just dress for warm and dry because they do get a lot of rain. The rain isn't a constant thing. If you get a rainfall it might last for an hour and then you get some beautiful rainbows. I like to think of Ireland as the land of the rainbows and there's a reason why it's so green there. We only saw snow once in Northern Ireland in the Republic.
It can definitely get very bitter cold, like it just rains so much and when the wind is blowing and you're all wet It's freezing. I remember one time trying to walk up the street and the wind was blowing so hard We're literally leaning so far forward and the wind was holding us up It was like we were taking two steps forward and a step back. That didn't happen often And then it will just mist all the time. That won't be quite rain, but it will be misting That's the best way to explain that
The weather is incredible. The locals have a saying there, they say, if you want to know what the weather's like, wait a minute, because it's always changing. You can wake up in the morning, you look outside, you're trying to figure out what your attire is going to be, and you know, it could be sunshine and no clouds, and you're thinking, oh good, it's not going to rain today. So that's exactly what happened to my companion and I. We saw it was a good day, and we got completely drenched. The rain just came pouring down, literally. Luckily, an old kind Irishman saw our predicament, and he came and he picked us up, and he brought us back to the flat, which was kind of him. So yes, always be prepared for the weather.
