College Professor

I got my job as a college professor by volunteering. In my particular college, a professional degree is adequate to be able to teach and I came to the college to volunteer my services as a kind of a lab assistant or lab aid or TA. I met with the department chair, he asked me to come in during his lab, then asked me to teach one of his labs, then he said, why don't you teach your own course, lecture and lab? And I had been doing that for about 24 years. So essentially volunteering was the way it started. I went in and said, this is one of my favorite subjects, anatomy, and I'd like to be able to help out the next generation of people learning it, the tricks and tools that I used to memorize the parts of the body. That was it.
