There are a lot of people there that will pickpocket you, and so I usually carried around a messenger bag instead of a backpack. Backpacks are much easier to get into without you knowing about them, so whenever I was riding the metro or public transportation or just walking around, I would always have a messenger bag that went across the, you know, side body or a shoulder strap so that I couldn't get pickpocketed. The one day I was wearing a there was a someone that was riding the bus with us and got off at the same stop, and I could feel them like reaching up around to to open my backpack, and luckily I caught them before they stole anything, but it was crazy.
