What I wish I knew - Podcaster Video Transcripts

What I wish I knew. You don't have to break the bank in order to do this podcast at the beginning. Do it, see how you like it. Also too, that it does take a lot of time. It takes a lot of time, a lot of consistency, a lot of effort to make this. And if you can find someone to help you write scripts, even better. But there's just so many things that I wish I knew starting that I know now, you know, even what platform to use. I wish I knew, you know, better platforms that there are now. So just research.

One thing I wish I knew before I started my podcast is probably to just not stress out so much about it because when I started it, I knew it wasn't going to be like a career that was going to, like I wasn't going to need to make a ton of money off it. And I would say this even to people that are looking to turn it into a career, just have fun with it and make it authentic and make it you. And people are going to respond to that. You know, I've been really impressed with the amount of listeners I've been able to gain given that I wasn't trying very hard. Podcasting obviously is really popular right now and people are looking for different stories, different things to listen to. So just have fun with it and just make it authentic to what you are wanting to say. And there are, you'll find the people out there that are looking to hear that.

What I wish I knew is how to monetize my podcast even more than what I'm doing now. One thing about podcasting, you always got to be, you got to focus on growing, not remaining standstill, just think about growing, growing your guests on your podcast. I wish, I wish how I could get more guests on my podcast to join me on the podcast, speak on various subjects. Wish I knew how to get my own radio station to do my podcast on it and host other people's podcasts on my radio station. I wish I knew how to do that as well. So if anything, that's something I'm going to have to study on to enable me to find out how to do that.

So one thing I didn't do enough research on before starting my podcast was that there are lots of different hosting platforms. So when I was doing my tutorial in order to try to figure out how to start a podcast, I just used the same hosting platform that the people who gave me the tutorial used which is Lisbian. What I wish I would have done is gone back and looked closer at Anchor which is another hosting platform that you will want to look into because it's free. So with Lisbian I pay about $15 a month for the package that I want. They have lots of different package options so you can go as low as $5 a month but Anchor was one I hadn't heard about yet that's actually free for podcasters which is ideal if you're just doing it as a hobby or you're not sure how to monetize yet. It's kind of hard to switch hosting platforms so pick the one make sure you do the research to pick the one you want first.
