Pink Eye

My whole family went on a vacation to Texas to like we had other family there and we all got there and one of the cousins got it and then it kind of spread and pretty soon two days later everyone had it. One of my aunts got it in both eyes. It was it was called pink eye Christmas.

I was developing pink eye and it got pretty severe in the morning and knowing that I have pink eye in the work that I'm in I knew I'd get sent home and I wouldn't be able to come in for about two weeks. I wasn't willing to lose two weeks to pay so I decided to tell myself mentally this is not going to happen and it will not happen and I started to squeeze my eyes shut as hard as I could and tightening it up making sure it started to tear up and then within two minutes pink eye was gone, swelling was gone, I was back to normal as if I never had it in the first place.

So I've had pinkeye several times in my life, with varying levels of severity. But the worst was when I was on my mission, my LDS mission, in the country of Kitibis in the Pacific Ocean. And it's one of those things where it's so contagious. And over there, the hygiene's probably not the best. And so it was one of those things where one person got it, and it just spread to probably a third of the island and had pinkeye within a week or two. I had it in both eyes, and everybody was just out. And the thing is, if you're not careful, you're around people that have pinkeye, you're going to get pinkeye. You have to be really careful with washing your hands and doing preventative things to be careful. But it went away eventually. It's usually only a few days where you'll have it, but it's not super bad.
