A common misconception is that Peru is Machu Picchu, that that's the only place to visit in Peru, which is not true. There are so many other sites, and Lima is a really interesting city. It has some modern parts, but also has some less modernized parts, and some really pretty beach areas.

Well, I am from Peru. I was born and raised there and a lot of misconceptions that I got because like I moved to the USA is that we ride llamas. I don't know why, just Americans think that but that's not true at all. I'm from Lima, so I'm from the capital. We don't do that. Llamas, they usually live in the mountains like Utah and places in Arizona, kind of like that. And you can probably ride them but I don't, it's not really common to do it. So yeah, we don't have pet llamas or something like that. We don't eat tacos. Yeah, you will find a lot of different food and ways of transportation in Peru.

One misconception I heard a lot from a lot of, like, gringos going out of Peru is that they think anywhere south of the border, like, just eats tacos and burritos all the time, but you won't eat that in Peru. You eat, like, rice and potatoes every day, so it's pretty different.
