Extreme weather - Paraguay Video Transcripts

Floods were a very common occurrence. I remember one time it was sunny and hot out one day and we left and we didn't think to bring our umbrellas, we didn't have our rain boots or anything and literally about two hours out it started to pour and it poured all the way up to where it flooded to like our knees and so we were soaked. We had nothing but definitely floods are like one of the craziest things that you will experience in Paraguay.

I remember this one time where we were doing service, where we were helping him just like move all these rocks in his yard to another spot in his yard. I don't even, I don't know why, I can't remember. But it was nice weather, like it wasn't bad, and then all of a sudden he was just like, get inside. So we run inside his little house and look outside and it just completely changes. Huge storm, rain, thunder, lightning. I wish I could just put the video of it. I took a video of it here and it's just crazy, the rain. I've never seen anything like that, obviously, in Utah where I'm from, or anywhere else for that matter. Like I did that day, it was a crazy storm. So be prepared for rain. Rain is huge in Paraguay.

The weather in Paraguay is hot. It's hot in the winter and then it's hotter in the summer. It's really, really humid and it's really not unusual to have like three feet of rainwater just around you all the time. So you take off your shoes and you just walk through it and you get super soaked. There's a ton of rain, tons of humidity. I mean, it would be really hot and I would wake up in the middle of the night and just go into the shower with my pajamas on and just turn on the cold water and just soak myself and then go back to bed because it was super, super hot. So really, really humid, really hot and the rain there is crazy. Like it kind of hurts your skin when it's coming down really hard because it's really, really, really strong.

We had a thunderstorm blow in. Lots of lightning and black rain. It was kind of interesting and the people were freaking out about that there, but the best idea I come up with is it was probably a volcano somewhere to the west of us out in Chile. I wrote to my mom about that and she found out that there indeed was one and that was one of the reasons for the storm and the reason it rained. We had black rain.

Crazy weather story, probably would be my first night in Paraguay. First night in Paraguay, I'm in an area called Ibujaú. We get to our little house and just thunderstorm, just huge storm comes through, lots of wind, and you could hear the trees, you could hear the rain coming down, and I was just like, please, like, don't have our house be flooded. Because it was raining so hard, I literally thought our house was going to be flooded. So, I literally put my hand down on the ground by my bed to feel like our house was flooded. But thankfully, thankfully our house is not flooded. But yeah, a lot of rain, a lot of rain down in Paraguay. You just got to watch out where you are, so you're not in an area where you'll get washed out, where there's like a mudslide or something, I'll come by. So just walk on the high ground, but a lot of rain, bring some rain boots. Enjoy it though, it's fun.
