A typical day really depends on what kind of lawyer you are and where you work. When I drafted patents, I would take an hour-long commute into town, park my car, go to my office, close my door, draft patents for literally eight hours of the day, finish up the day, drive on home without having really talked to anybody. At a litigation law firm, it might be similar, but I'm in going through documents and reviewing pleadings and writing documents and reviewing with the senior attorney, getting feedback, getting chewed out for typos, and then occasional travel for depositions and hearings. An in-house attorney now that works from home, I get up early, I don't wear shoes, I come in, I have some meetings with my reports who work in China and Holland and New Hampshire, draft a lot of presentations and strategy sessions.
