So this is more of a misconception about the German language than about Germany as a country, but people always ask me, oh is German, German sounds really harsh and ugly, right? And I just don't think that it does. I think people have misconceptions about German because they only know maybe one famous German who didn't do some very good things, and they think that everyone talks like him, and I just, yeah, that wasn't my experience. I think German is a really beautiful language. I think it, you know, it can be ugly just like any language if you say ugly things or say it in an ugly way, but I think it's beautiful in its own way for sure.

Before I left for Germany, I was expecting everyone to be in Dirndl's every Sunday, or like every single day of the week, and I was expecting men to be in Leiderhosen forever. I also expected it just to be straight up German food everywhere you looked, but when I got there, there was Italian ice cream, there was Duner's, there were a lot of Asian food shops, and a lot of Turkish food places, and it's just a giant melting pot of food and dishes, and everyone seems to dress pretty normally. They actually don't wear Leiderhosen in Dirndl all that often. They only wear it twice a year for Fasching and for Oktoberfest, so that kind of blew my mind as I was there. Being able to see all that was a good clarification for me.
