Turn to Jesus Christ. He will be able to provide comfort and peace and the strength that you need in order to get through that difficult time and it will get better because of Him.
I know that God loves each and every one of his children and that he knows exactly what you're going through and he has a plan for you and so sometimes we just have to push through our trials and he'll be there to help us whenever we need it although sometimes it seems like he's not.
What helps me have the most hope in life is just remembering that God is with me. God is by my side. He loves me. Just understanding his character, understanding who he is, and just knowing that he's by my side has really helped me have hope when things are difficult.
Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. There is happiness and there is joy. There are opportunities for us to find good in every single moment of our lives. Why? Because we can change. We can become better. We can be exactly who we want to be because Jesus Christ gave his life for us to have the opportunity to change. He came back to life and we're going to live again because he did that first. He gave everything he was and so it doesn't matter who you are or what you're going through. He understands you. He loves you and he makes it possible for you to become who you want to be.
Man, hope is is important but sometimes hard thing to have and I think what I would say to those who don't have hope right now is that the atonement of Jesus Christ, what he experienced of dying on the cross, three days after that being able to rise again and the atonement that he he performed makes it so he knows exactly what we're experiencing and the scriptures say that he will make all things right and so my message would be just keep trying and rely on him as much as you can and it'll be okay.
Sometimes your feelings will tell you that God is not listening, that he doesn't care, that he's just not there. No, that's true. He is always there. Drill that fact into your head in whatever way you can manage, and it will support you for the rest of your life. He is always there. He always cares.
One of the biggest messages of hope I've ever heard was when Elder Holland came to speak to my stake. He said that this is the Church of Happy Endings, and that really hit me hard. I was in kind of a rough spot in my life, and that was just exactly what I needed to hear in that moment, that if it's not going perfectly or even okay sometimes, that it's not the end, and we'll know it's the end because we'll be happy, and this is the Church of Happy Endings.
It'll get better. I can't say when, and I can't say how, but I know for a fact that Jesus Christ's sacrifice makes it so that no matter who we are, what our situation is, we can have hope that the future can be better than the present. Maybe that's after we die. Maybe that's before we die, but because of Jesus Christ, if we reach out to him and cling to him, things will be better than they are right now.
Just simply knowing that God exists and that God cares about you. If you can just believe those two things, then you have to believe that God is going to make things better and that whatever you're going through is ultimately for your benefit. If you know that God exists and if you know that he loves you, then you have to know that whatever he's putting you through is out of love and out of care. And knowing that gives you a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Just knowing that if I can make it through this, things will get better. And while it doesn't take it away, it changes your attitude, which makes it slightly better than it was before.
One thing I would say for people who are currently feeling hopeless is that regardless of your situation and regardless of your circumstance, that hope is always available and that through Jesus Christ, our Savior, we can always rely on Him to be able to feel that hope and to be able to feel that joy. I would say the biggest thing is if you're feeling hopeless, then instead of turning to more worldly things as in like TV or shopping, stuff like that, turn to reading the scriptures and to prayer to our Heavenly Father and if we truly pray with sincere intent, then He will be able to bless us and give us that hope. We do have to wait for the Lord's timing. We're not going to get everything we ask for immediately, but I am a firm believer that if we pray for peace, that we will be able to be blessed with peace. So through prayer comes hope.
If you are feeling hopeless and life just kind of really stinks right now, I just have one question for you. What do you call a pig that does karate? A pork chop.
If you're feeling hopeless, just take a look at this. If it doesn't bring you hope that adults can wear Aladdin shirts in public, I don't know it will.
I think one really important thing to keep in mind is that Jesus loves you, that no matter who you are or what you've done, how you feel about yourself, that Jesus values you and that Jesus cares so much about you.
I only feel confident giving this message because I have hopeless days still. I'm still in the midst of my battle with depression and anxiety, but from my own experience I can testify that the dark days will pass. Things do get better. Some days it's not much of an improvement, but they do get better. And the important thing is just to not give up. Don't give in, just get through today. Rest well tonight, as best you can, and let tomorrow take care of itself. You got this. There's hope and brightness ahead.
One of my favorite sayings has been that God will send his strongest warriors into his toughest battles. This has always given me hope because the Lord isn't going to give you trials or put you in a situation that he knows you can't handle. He has complete faith and belief in your potential to do anything that you are facing in life. So regardless if you think that you can't stand it, that you can't get up again, the Lord believes you. He is behind you 100% supporting you and believing you in all your endeavors.
I'm not going to pretend to know who you are or what you're going through right now, but what I am going to say for my message of hope is that the times that I felt hopeless, that I felt in despair, that I felt darkness, those times have always ended. That for every darkness that I've experienced, there has been a dawn. There has been a period of relief. There has been a period of joy found again. And I know that as you continue to follow Jesus Christ, as you continue to take those tiny steps forward that seem momentous, because in reality they are, even though they might seem tiny, and as you continue to trust him, that that morning will come, that dawn will come, and that day will come.
