How God speaks to me - English Video Transcripts

God really speaks to me through hymns. I think hymns are a prayer to him. I think that their words are beautiful and they point us to Jesus Christ and then mixed with like beautiful melodies and instruments. That's just like the key to my heart and I love it and I feel inspired and I feel close to God and I feel that he touches my heart whenever I sing or listen to hymns.

Honestly, for me, I feel like God doesn't speak to me a lot in just like huge ways in something that's super like grand. It's more in small and simple kind of ways to my mind and to my heart. That's that's how it is for me. It's different for everyone. But for me, as I kind of like think about something a lot, I start to come to a conclusion that I feel like is inspired from God.

I found that the most common way that God speaks to me is actually through other people. He's blessed me with so many great people in my life and even random people sometimes they just say the exact thing that I need to hear and there have been several moments that I've had where someone says something to me and I just know it's I know for sure that it was inspired from God. So I just recommend looking for those moments.

Something I've noticed about how God speaks to me is that it's often not a loud voice, not super noticeable. I think it's just through small and simple things or if I have a thought, oh I should do this, or all of a sudden I come to a realization of something. But I know that God always tells me to do good and that he tells me to help others. So if I ever have a feeling to do something good I try to just go and do it because I know it's from God.

For me, a simple way that I think that God speaks to me is just through other people. Most common prayer that I think I say is just to know that God is aware of me and that He loves me and whenever I do that I feel like someone out of the blue texts me or someone I already know and love reaches out to me and that is just a sign that I take from God.
Video 6 Transcript
I've realized that when I am looking for answers or seeking help from God a lot of times that my answers are already contained within the scriptures. It's just a matter of me taking the time to open them up, read them, and seeing how those scriptures can apply to my life. And most of the time the answer is just right there in between the lines.

I feel like God speaks to me in so many different ways. I feel that one way that God speaks to me is through the promptings of the Holy Spirit. I believe that if we keep ourselves morally clean and in tune with our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, that He's able to prompt us. I think these promptings come in different ways. I think a big way that these promptings come for me are thoughts in my mind. These thoughts can be gradual or sudden, and I feel like I truly believe from experience as we follow these promptings from our Heavenly Father that God leads us to do greater things. A lot of times I feel like these promptings might not be ideal or convenient or they might not make sense, but as we do it, that God will bless us.

I hear lots of stories of people hearing voices, or like hearing God speak to them, or hearing the Spirit speak to them. I've never experienced a voice. The way that God speaks to me is more through the feelings that I have, feelings of peace and comfort. Or, for example, if I have an idea of something I should do, sometimes I feel just overwhelming peace and I gain more ideas relating to that idea. And through those ideas and those feelings of peace, I believe that God is speaking to me through those feelings. So for anybody who is wondering how God speaks to them, it's not always a voice. In fact, it's rarely a voice. I think, for me at least, He speaks to me through my own personal feelings and convictions and thoughts.

God speaks to me through recurring thoughts. In a day and age where there's so much information coming at us at all times, and my cell phone just being a 24-7 distraction, God reminds me of things that are important, and I have that little nagging feeling of, you know, there's better things and there's best things to be doing with my time, and usually that'll be things like studying my scriptures first before doing homework or making time to go to the temple.

God speaks to me in many ways, and I think one of those ways is through the sacrament. It's awesome every Sunday being able to go to church and just have a quiet moment to reflect on the past week, and I think that's one way that God really tries to speak to all of us, and so I think that we all need to take the sacrament more seriously.
Video 11 Transcript
So the most common ways I think that God speaks to me is through my feelings. He'll give me a feeling of peace, or of love, or joy, or He'll speak to me through the Holy Ghost.
Video 12 Transcript
One of the ways God speaks to me is a little bit surprising, but he speaks to me through other people. I try to surround myself with people who are good and positive influences in my life, and this has happened on two or three occasions that I remember specifically, where someone will make a suggestion and then I'll think, oh, that's kind of an answer to something that I was wondering about, and then I'll go pray about it and feel good about it, and I know that that is a way that God is speaking to me. And so there are lots of different ways that God speaks to me, but that's one in particular that has stood out to me over the years.

For me, I've never had a very profound experience with the way that God has spoken to me. I know some people have experiences to where they feel like he physically touches them and puts his arms around them or that they hear a whisper in their ear. But for me, I think that I have been spoken to by God in very subtle ways and it's usually through other people. For example, I was fasting for something a few months ago for a couple things that I had prayed about that sacrament meeting and I was getting set apart for a calling that same day. And I didn't say anything before I was set apart and received that blessing to get set apart. But in the blessing that I received, the things that I was fasting for specifically were addressed in that blessing. And like I said, I did not say that out loud, but the person who gave me the blessing said those things to me and that just showed me that was a direct spokesperson from Heavenly Father to me at that time. And that again, it just showed me that God was real and that's how he speaks to me.

God speaks to me just by little feelings and impressions I get, whether it's just like a random thought that pops into my head, like, oh you need to like call this person today, or do this, like don't forget, or if it's someone else reminding me, things like that, or I'll just get this overwhelming feeling of like peace and calmness.

One specific way that God speaks to me is through music. I grew up in a musical family. We've sung around the piano a lot growing up, and I've participated in ward choirs, school choirs, church choirs, and everything in between. And I've found that there's a true power, a spiritual power in music, and that I can feel peace. I feel peace from God when I sing and when I play the piano. Music is something that unifies us, and I know that God wants us to be unified. And so I can feel his words and his love in the times when I am creating music with other people.

God speaks to me through music. He also speaks to me through bringing peace into my life and knowing that peace is giving me the reassurance that I'm where I'm supposed to be in my life and doing what I need to be doing.

One way that God speaks to me in my life is through music. I find that a lot of times when I feel distant from him or when I'm going through something really difficult and I pray to feel his love or to see his hand in my life, most often it comes through music. I actually had a cousin that I grew up with. I was really close to him. He passed away in 2021. He was in a car accident and it was really sudden and it was really hard because he was like a brother to me. But during that time, there was a song. It's called In Christ Alone. And it became really meaningful to me and it would come on all the time. And that was a way that I knew that God cared about me and was aware of me in my life.

I believe God speaks to me in peace and with repetition. Those two things are kind of my go-to when I know that I'm receiving personal revelation. I also receive better revelation when I record my thoughts in my journal. So I try and keep a very good journal and if there's anything on my mind, I first write that all out and then I write specific questions that I am seeking revelation for and then I have my scripture study and my personal study where I study the words of prophets and scriptures, hymns, that kind of thing. And as I do every time, I kid you not, there are answers to those specific questions that I had already written down. So I record those again in my journal and then as I synthesize it over the next week or so, I hear those answers repeated again and again and that's when I know.

God speaks to me in so many different ways, and one way in particular that I've really noticed is that he speaks to me through other people. And like in my religion classes, my professor will say something and like it'll just hit me a lot harder than something normally would. I'm like, wow, I needed to hear this, or something in Sunday school, or a friend talking, and like, wow, that's an answer to my prayer. Oh my goodness. And it's, he works through so many different ways, and oftentimes it's through other people. And even if it's not words, it's just he'll help you and he'll answer your prayers through other people. And it's really amazing.

I know that God speaks to me through prayer, scriptures, and help from other people.

This is kind of specific, but I guess that the way that God speaks to me, not that I don't have great, you know, thoughts and ideas, but I feel like I recognize the easiest when God speaks to me because it's like a thought that I wouldn't usually think of doing, like on my mission to like go and like practically run someone down or talk to people that I don't or do random things like, I don't know, randomly do service for people. So I feel like that's kind of like, I don't know, it's not foolproof, but I feel like that's the way that God speaks to me is just like putting ideas in my head of things that I know that I should do, that I know I wouldn't usually think of during the day.
Video 23 Transcript
God speaks to me through music a lot. I feel the Spirit when I listen to music. He also speaks to me through people I love, others in my life that come and help me and speak to me. I also feel that God speaks to me through the Spirit. I feel calm, peace, and I know it's from God, and I know that it's Him bringing me guidance and counsel that is just simply peace and comfort. That really is what I need, so I'm grateful for God.
Video 24 Transcript
I think the most common way that God speaks to me is through the scriptures. Sometimes it'll be like a verse has an answer that I really need or like a story or an example, but more often than not it's more like when I'm reading the scriptures that like thoughts will come into my head or answers to questions and so I think both through the words on the page and like the spirit whispering things to me, that's how I often get answers from God.
Video 25 Transcript
God speaks to me in ways that I understand. He helps me see things through lenses that I can relate to. Almost as if, you know, He's speaking to me in a parable, but it's parables that I'm familiar with, whether it's around cars, motorcycles, sports, whatever experiences that I've had, He reaches to me and helps me put pieces together in that context. It's been quite amazing to witness throughout my life. I love the fact that Heavenly Father speaks to me quite often.
Video 26 Transcript
I've learned over the years that God speaks to me in kind of an interesting way. I'm a little bit of a scatterbrain and so I feel like the gospel is only given to me in bits that I can handle. And so the spirit speaks to me through my train of thought. I'll be thinking about one thing and then it'll redirect me to like a billion different other things until I get somewhere that's positive. Something that's going to help me, something that's going to help someone else. And when I feel those moments of like, I definitely was not thinking that before, the spirit has led me to this. I know that that's God helping my train of thought go where it needs to go so that I can actually be a productive human being.
Video 27 Transcript
God speaks to me in a very quiet yet profound way. I am someone who I have a hard time slowing down and really just listening to my thoughts and to my impressions. And so I know that when I take a moment to slow down and really ponder, God talks and speaks to me through those quiet moments that I really try to make the effort to connect with him.
Video 28 Transcript
I think that God speaks to me often just through the feelings that I have. As I go about life and I try and make the best choices I can, he'll give me, he'll just help me feel good about things and it'll make things just kind of feel right and things just kind of fit together. And sometimes I'll just feel to go do something small but then that'll make the greatest difference.
Video 29 Transcript
The way that Heavenly Father speaks to me is definitely through impressions. It took some time getting to learn how, you know, how he spoke to me specifically, but for me it's when I have, you know, similar or the same thought over and over again for, you know, a while and eventually I'm like, okay, this seems like something I need to act on. And usually when I pray about it, I usually have this warm feeling and usually they're good things to act on. Sometimes they're scary, but every time that I do act on the impressions that Heavenly Father gives me, it leads to greater joy and greater life blessings.

All right, as for how God speaks to me, I take a very Bednar approach to it. Bednar gave a talk about how we should try to keep the commandments, be good boys and girls, and then just trust. We don't have to know if something is inspiration, we just do. And sometimes it will be inspiration, and sometimes it won't. That doesn't matter. We'll learn more along the way. You have to do things. God can't steer a parked car. You have to do things if you're going to learn how the Spirit feels and how it feels to be receiving inspiration. But that's not really the point. The point is that if you make sure that your life is on the track that it needs to be, if you are doing God's will, then good things will happen to you.
