Crazy foods - Ecuador Video Transcripts

While I was living in Ecuador, I definitely tried some pretty crazy foods. Number one has to be, what they're most famous for, is guinea pig. I did get it a lot. It's eaten pretty much as common as, you know, chicken sometimes, depending in the place, but also as rarely, as often as we eat, you know, deer meat. So it depends on the place, but it is eaten there. They also eat something called chentucuro, which is like a type of worm that are like super fat and like round. I also had turtle while I was there, and they just eat every part of the animal. So you'll eat the chicken foot, the cow foot, the chicken or the cow tongue, the cow brains, cow's liver. You get, you know, every part of the animal. So just that, but usually it can be pretty good. Even cow stomach would recommend.

Pretty much before every meal in Ecuador you always be given a big boiling hot bowl of soup and it'll have usually like a hoof or bone or Chicken feet whatever might be there's usually something floating in the middle And you just kind of have to drink the super super hot liquid and you're just sweating as you do it And that's those are always pretty interesting some of them are good some of them are gross Depends on honestly whether or not you have a bone. I don't love the bone ones Um, they also have Something called encebollado, which can either be your best friend or you'll absolutely hate it We all like hated it like the first two or three times we had it But then we just became obsessed with it because it is so so good But basically it's like a fish banana stew. It's so good

I honestly loved all the food I ate, but some of the crazy stuff that you might find among many other things is cow tongue, eating the cow, like the cartilage of the cow hoof, any of the organs you could find, really, they eat just about all of the animal. For me, it's actually pretty tasty.

Some of the weirdest things you're going to eat is just any part of the animal, like intestine, stomach, all that nasty stuff. Two of the things that I had the most was pata, which is just like the paw or like the foot of an animal. So I had like chicken foot, I had pig foot, and I also had cow foot. That's when I had the most. A lot of times it was in a soup and you just see this huge hoof in there and it was nasty and sometimes there's like little hairs sticking off the skin. Another thing was pigskin, they call it cuero. I always would have to like cut it up into really little pieces and just straight up swallow it because I couldn't chew it.
