It is hard to get into dental school, so beginning early on, talking to students who have applied and been accepted, getting their feedback and thoughts, it can be very helpful. Taking the classes that the dental school requires, practicing many times for the DAT test under timed circumstances so you're prepared for the test, it's helpful. Show the dental schools that you are really interested in them. Shadow or volunteer at the school that you're interested in getting into, and you know if you get into a different school, that's great. You can't always control the factors that determine where and when you'll be accepted. Being accepted anywhere is good. Many people need to apply again a second year, and that shows commitment, especially if you return with improved scores, and make that a strength in your applying. It can show a school your interest and commitment, and that can help you get into dental school.
