One thing I did to help me with the language is carry around just a little notebook with me at all times and just write down new words I hear or local terms for different things because one thing you'll learn about Columbia is they have a lot of slang. A lot of it you probably shouldn't use but it's fun to know and you can just write it down, jot it down and study it in dead moments and random times like if you're in a taxi for example and that really helped me to learn new words fast and to internalize them fast and you can't be negative to yourself or you'll always fail and notice your failures more.

Some language tips that I would give is probably definitely trying to immerse yourself in Spanish as much as you can because it definitely helps being surrounded. It helps you better your accent or just better your grammar as well. Like for example, like listening to music or watching shows in Spanish will definitely really help for you to strengthen your language skills.

Spanish will come as you work hard at it and as you desire to speak with the people in their native language and not be complacent because it's easy to like learn some of it, learn enough to get by and then just stop in your progress but keep going because then you'll be able to connect more and more with people.

If you don't know or only know how to speak Spanish, I honestly don't know why you would go to Colombia. I know that there are a lot of gringos that go to Colombia, but I say that it's very easy to learn the basics of the language if you're going to go to that country. Here in the United States, people speak a lot of Spanish as well, so I say that it's very easy to learn at least a little bit if you're going to go to the country. If you're going to go to Colombia, I would say it's very easy to learn at least the basics in Spanish. Regardless, we do still get tourists, so you'll probably still be able to get around. But I would say, especially being in the U.S., it's probably very easy. You've probably learned things in high school. It's very easy to get a few things to defend yourself in Colombia.
