Symptoms of cholestasis are extreme itchiness in the mother, usually on the palms of the hands and the bottom of the feet, but it can be anywhere. They have dark urine and light colored stool and their eyes start to get jaundiced, so they start to get yellow. The most common symptom is the itchiness. You can just have itchiness and none of the other symptoms and still have cholestasis. Cholestasis can also cause preterm labor and they aren't sure why in most cases, and if there is no preterm labor then your doctor will induce you early, usually anywhere between 35 to 37 weeks depending on your numbers, and because it causes such serious risks to the baby that they can be born dead if it's too late.
