The pros - Brigham Young University-Hawaii Video Transcripts

Some of the pros of living here is the beautiful weather all year round. If you do like to swim or surf, the ocean is right there, or even just to sit on the beach and listen to the waves. The community is so tight-knit. It's so wonderful. If you know the people here, they take such good care of you. The diversity of cultures is amazing. You have so many different people to learn and grow from and appreciate. The different languages and foods and clothes and also the small classroom sizes. You get more individualized attention because there's less people. So it's just an easier way to stay in contact with your teacher and feel like you are important in the classroom and have a say.

The pros, the culture is very diverse because we have a lot of international students. And the second is the school is close by the beach and it's really, it's really fun. Just like 10 minutes from, from, from the beach. And also one of the pros is the people there are really, really nice, especially the people, you know, from PCC or the Polynesian Cultural Center. Another thing is the curriculum at school is really fun and wonderful, even though you might have a lot of homework, but you have to have a time management and also you have to use time wisely. So that would be a really good one. And also we have lots of hiking and beaches around, you know, around the school.

I would have to say one of my favorite pros is that you always have something to do. The beach is always there and it's free and it's a really good option. I really enjoyed that aspect of Hawaii. I loved going to BYU-Hawaii for the culture aspect. It was really cool to interact with so many people from different countries and different places, especially places I didn't even know existed and so that was really cool. The culture night was my favorite highlight of the spring, winter, whatever they call it. I've been away from BYU-Hawaii long enough, I can't remember, but a semester it was my favorite and I enjoyed participating in that.

The first pro about BYU-Hawaii, it's in Hawaii like the You have the beach like a block away from you at all times, which is awesome Maybe a little bit more than a block, but still super close You can walk to it whenever you want and between classes, which is awesome. You have the temple and walking distance too That's another pro. You do not need a car. You can have a car and you'll probably want one like later on because like in your Maybe first semester, second semester, you're pretty fine with walking everywhere, taking a bike if you have a bike or Taking the bus if you have to go somewhere farther. The bus system is great It is $2.75 one way and it's $5.50 for round-trip So I mean it's the same price to just get the round-trip if you don't have a way back. So that's always great

Some of the pros about BYU-Hawaii is that it's a smaller school, and so with it being a smaller school, you are able to get to know the professors better and have a good relationship with the students, which is very beneficial, especially with the professors, and you're able to go into their office and talk to them and see what things you can do better and get help on. Granted, you can do that in a big school too, but it's nice to have a smaller school so that in the classroom it feels more personable instead of just a number.

I don't even think I need to explain the pros of Bihui Hawaii, just the fact of being in a paradisiacal island just makes it up for so much. But I wouldn't say Bihui Hawaii is amazing just because you can go to the beach, because there are people that do not like going to the beach. I didn't go to the beach when I was in college, I went there only during school breaks, but a lot of people can go during the week, I don't have anything against those who did. But I do love the sunshine, I do love looking at the ocean, it always calms me down. But for me, the biggest pro of Bihui Hawaii is meeting people from all over the world. I remember the first time I went to the international airport with my father and I thought, dad, I want to work at an international airport, I want to see people from all over the world. And technically, you don't need to do that, you could just go to Bihui Hawaii and you can find people from all over the world and make friends and learn cultures.

There are so many pros to attending BYUH and I think some of the biggest is just being able to make friends with people from all around the world and learn about different cultures and have a unique opportunity to take classes from professors that have real legitimate experience in what they're teaching. Whether you're taking a peacebuilding class or a language class you're learning from professors that really have great experiences to share because it's something they maybe grew up with you know etc etc but learning from the different about the different cultures and learning from all the people there is such an incredible opportunity not to mention the pros of living on an island which there are a lot of if you love outdoor activities and lovely warm weather and beaches it's an incredible place to live.

My first one would be because it's very nice, it's an area and the weather is always nice, no matter which season. It's not too hot and it's not cold. You have the smaller campus, so you have more possibility to work individually with the professor and they can help you out more. And the classrooms are not so big in the number of students, so you get to be involved in more. And there's a lot of different chapters that you can be involved too.

Pearls of Biwi, Hawaii. There's a lot, a lot. First off, the weather is so beautiful. It's close to the beach, close to a lot of hiking trails and stuff like that. The weather, it's beautiful. Like, even though it's freezing in other parts of the world, Hawaii, it's nice and warm. You can go to the beach anytime. You can go to the waterfall, right? You can go swimming. It doesn't matter, right? Another pearl of Biwi, Hawaii is PCC. We're grateful to have PCC provide jobs, opportunities, and stuff like that. And also, a lot of professors, they're so, they're sweet. They know you. Like, it's a small campus. Everyone knows each other. Like, for reals. Professors will even call you by name. You don't have to worry about not knowing the professor, not knowing your name. They will know your name.
