Like more than half of the town of Laie, it's made up of students of BYU-Hawaii and about 40% of us is all international students, all from 77 different countries speaking 45 different languages on campus. So BYU-Hawaii is by far the most culturally diverse campus in the entire United States. You'll never find something like it anywhere else. When BYU-Hawaii was established, it wasn't the paradisiacal island everyone thinks about it. It was a place that people were trying to avoid a lot of times. The Church College of Hawaii, it got established before even Hawaii was fully a state of the United States. So there's a lot of history in there. The temple next to the campus itself, it's over 100 years old and still looks brand new and people still come to that temple from all over the world because it's part of a historical site in Laie.

We have only 3,000 students but a lot of faculty members. So each faculty member or professor will have about 15 or 16 students rather than like hundreds of students. So you can get really close with the professors and the teachers or instructors. And other things about BIA Hawaii is that it's right next to Polynesia Cultural Center. So they offer lots of student jobs for people who try to earn their way for college. One special thing about BIA Hawaii is that it's only five minutes away from the beach and ocean. So it's a really good way for a student to go there, you know, have some fun and to relax after a stressful day.

Something very interesting about BYU-Hawaii is that students are able to come from so many different countries and they're able to share something unique about themselves as they study at BYU-Hawaii. As BYU-Hawaii is much known to be in cultural diversity, it also allows an opportunity for students to experience the Aloha spirit in so many different unique ways. For example, having the BCC super close to the school campus and being employed at BCC is a part of myself, sharing one Aloha. And being super close to the temple, have the opportunity to be motivated to align ourselves with the Savior.
