My favorite elective was by far BYU Hawaii's Concert Choir. It was incredible and it's such an amazing family to be part of and I love music and so it's great. Michael Belknap was the director when I was there and he's incredible and he just really had a way of not only helping us with the theory behind the music but helping us really understand the message that we were singing and there's so many great music electives other than choir. I wish I'd had time to do them but there's also I mean there's tons of electives. Music just happens to be my favorite.

One of my favorite actives would be sports classes, and I really do like taking sports classes because it gives me a break from all the mundane things of my normal major classes, my minor classes. Sports classes is fun because it gives me a break, and it keeps me active, and it helps me awake throughout the day.

So one of my favorite lectures that I took at BYU Hawaii, I think it was hula. That might sound a little cliche or maybe too predictable, but I really did enjoy learning hula and learning a little bit more about the meaning. And oh my goodness, our teacher, she was so funny. Even if you were timid or a little shy, she sure could make you laugh or smile. And the thing is, since she's not exactly, she's not Hawaiian. I mean, she was raised in Hawaii, but she's not Hawaiian. She would teach other dances a little bit too. I really loved her class and it was fun. And since you're in Hawaii, you might as well learn something a little bit more about the culture and the place. At least that's how I thought. And not only that, but I think any dance classes, people really enjoy themselves.

Probably one of my favorite electives there is to probe into things that you don't do or you're curious about. During my time I've loved going to geography classes, to photography classes, things that probably you've never done and you're curious about. I would like to know more. I wish I had done more maybe of the Pacific studies and learn more. As it happens I was a tour guide and so I got to learn a lot. Actually the more I learned the more I became curious about. So this is something I probably would say if you want to try surfing, do it. If you want to learn anything that you're curious about this is a great opportunity.

One of my favorite elective courses at BYU-Hawaii is the Pacific Island Study 101. It actually allowed myself to know who I am as an individual, and the importance of carrying your identity to wherever the world takes you to. It doesn't matter wherever you go, it is always important to know who you are and where you come from, and the importance of being yourself. One of my favorite elective courses at BYU-H is the Polynesian Dancing class. It actually allows myself to learn more about the islands of the Pacific and how they connect themselves to the spirit of their ancestors. But most importantly, it actually motivated myself to learn more about different unique cultures in the Pacific that actually binds one's soul together.

I doubled major, so I didn't really have, I guess, electives, but one that really stuck out to me was honors colloquium, since I participate in the BYU-Hawaii Honors Program. This was a weekly opportunity where professors and speakers from on and off island were able to come, some remotely, most in person, and talk about the things they love the best, current research, things they couldn't bring to the classroom or that didn't fit a particular curriculum. We had colloquiums on Pacific Atolls, on love languages, on books. I had the opportunity as an alumnus while still on island teaching down in Honolulu to come and present on Peter Pan. So the professors at BYU-Hawaii and the people that live in the community are such a wealth of knowledge and at times underutilized. Professors are more than just teaching classes and giving grades. They have a wealth of opportunity to share with all of us.

One of my minors is Pacific Island Studies and my favourite electives in there is pretty much I took ukulele classes and stuff like that. It's fun, you learn a lot. You learn a lot, you learn how to play the ukulele, you learn how to play different songs and you even learn how to sing. Some electives that I have is my political science classes because of the professors that I have and with those professors they make my electives fun even though it's just some students might think oh it's just an elective and stuff like that but for me I took it more it's like this is a core class, this is an important class, doesn't matter if it's an elective or not, if it's not a core class or not, to me it's important. You just have to choose the right professor because if you have a fun professor you're going to enjoy the class and learn at the same time.

I love computers and so my favorite electives were choosing computer classes that were fun and with fun professors but that's another topic. Another one of my favorite electives was choosing a dance class. Now if you're in Hawaii, I suggest to go to Nina Foster. Nina Foster dance classes. She's amazing. She's an amazing dancer, amazing teacher. You'll love it. You'll never regret it. Of course, you need to put in the work but that's just like every other thing, right? And the Dansley's. Master Dansley and Sister Dansley. Crystal Dansley and Master Dansley. Amazing duo. Acting classes. I took acting classes from them. Really showed me some things that I did not know about myself. But yeah, those are my favorite electives. So acting, dancing, and computers. You know what's up.

I had two favorite electives. One was weightlifting. It was the women's weightlifting. Ms. McBride, she did a wonderful job. I felt really in shape at the end of that semester and motivated to stay in a healthier lifestyle. The other one was the ballroom dance class. Oh, ladies, if you come take it and bring a man along because they're short of men, take the class. It's so good to be able to dance with a partner and feel like you've got something in a common language together.
