Typical day is reading a lot of content. I kind of kid about that, but you really do consume a lot of content. And it's the way that you generate ideation, right? Or it's part of the ideation process of, how do I come up with ideas that would resonate that is something I'm passionate about, but yet would be beneficial for our audience? What is popular? What are people engaging with now? Is there content that people are engaging that's a completely different industry and we can make our version of what that looks like? A lot of the day is consuming content, but then obviously you're doing drafts and you're doing edits and creating all kinds of content. So when you're a blogger, most of your day is consuming content, creating content, and then finding a way to distribute that content.

One of the biggest things about blogging on the side and having a normal full-time job is that you've got to be able to prioritize your time. You have to have experience to create. For me, I've got to go exercise in the morning. I'll go run or I'll go to the gym and I'll listen to audiobooks about various topics or I'll just kind of be pondering and thinking about a topic that I want to write about and oftentimes it is when I get back from that run that the juices start flowing I have the ability to write a little bit before I go to work or right when I get off work I have the ability. The biggest thing with a typical day is as a blogger you really just do what you can do when you can do it and that's the ability and the beauty of blogging is there's not this like set requirement of you must blog for eight straight hours a day. If you don't get a blog, you don't get a blog but if you do get a blog and you have that opportunity and the juices are flowing, I've written like a 10,000 word article in a single sitting like two three hours and I'm also in some articles take weeks so just go when the juices are flowing.

I wish I had a typical day. For me, I blog on the side as like a hobby. One thing that I try to do is weekly, I try to send out a newsletter. And so if you're blogging, you know, one of the best ways to own your own traffic is to start an email list. So I try to send out an email to my email list once a week, at minimum, and that's bare minimum. But for that, I always like to have a fresh piece of content of my own. And so I'll be thinking throughout the week, you know, what can I write, what will resonate with my audience? What are other people talking about? And so there's a lot of research going into kind of compiling quotes and thoughts about what article I'm going to write. But you should definitely obviously be creating a lot more than you're consuming. And so creation needs to be a huge part of what you do.
