The causes of AERD are unknown at this point. They don't think it's genetic from the studies that they've done. There's a possibility they think it could be from caused from a virus. The people that I've talked to that have AERD, they believe it started or at least the symptoms started to show up after their immune system was in a weakened state. For example, a bad illness where their bodies just didn't seem to recover. That seemed to be the case with me. I had a really bad case of bronchitis and once that went away, the symptoms of AERD started.
