Interesting facts - YouTuber Video Transcripts

So, interesting facts about being a YouTuber. I would say that there are some sad parts to it. One is that there is a shelf life, a shelf life to making money on YouTube. That not all videos just constantly bring in money and that they eventually die out. Also, viral videos are fleeting and that it's kind of like a news article, a news headline one day and the next it's kind of still relevant or popular and then it kind of just goes down from there. Then also, it also does not guarantee that you will be rich or famous. It's just not something that it is even though we always think, I think we tie it together with that. It doesn't actually mean that that is the case. So, like it or not it's kind of sad.

From the year 2015 to 2020, it became dramatically easier to make a living on YouTube. I remember, you know, several years ago, I used to make about 50 cents to a dollar, you know, maybe 70 cents per thousand views on a pretty international audience. And, you know, we currently make close to, like, three dollars, you know, two to three dollars per thousand views on the same audience, being, like, two-thirds from different countries and a third from the U.S. or whatever. That's, like, 4x, 5x more, you know, 3x more revenue in just a couple years. So it's been easier to make a living as a YouTuber with less views. Another interesting fact is that there are, like, millions of YouTube channels on YouTube.

So one interesting fact about me as a youtuber specifically is actually I don't like, well I should say I definitely did not like being on camera. When we first started out on youtube I was like to my wife, I said I will happily film you, I will film the kids, I will edit, I will post. I don't really want to be on camera. I think my voice sounds weird. I don't I don't like how I look on camera. I feel super self-conscious and awkward. Did not like it at all and it took me years to get to a point and I feel like I'm very much there now where I am comfortable on camera. I feel like I finally have found my voice on camera that I that I feel confident with. But it took me a very long time and I was not interested in being on camera for quite a while. I would say years. So super crazy.

I wanted to share something that isn't necessarily an interesting fact about YouTube, but about one of my channels that kind of shows how if you're consistent and just don't quit something, that awesome things can happen. We over the course of five years, we didn't publish a ton, but in the course of those five years, we had about 600,000 views, which is not very much. This year, we're going to hit four or five million in one year. Things can happen on your channel. You can pivot. Ideas can kind of come to your mind, and you can change the way you're going, and awesome things can happen. Just keep at it, keep publishing, and keep pivoting if needed.
