Extreme weather
Watch VideosEnglish weather is typically known to be cold and wet. It doesn't really change a great deal from that. Summers tend to be very short so we love them when they come. We occasionally have good summers in the UK but we're typically wet and cold. Winters are not really extreme but you can get some good snow in the higher places from time to time but you can't bank on it. We never know quite what's coming from one day to the next and so that makes it quite interesting to plan particularly outdoor activities in the UK because you're never quite sure what's coming. It never gets too extreme one way or the other but we do find it just cold and muggy.
The weather in the UK is, I wouldn't say very extreme, it's quite the opposite and I guess that's why it is extreme. A lot of overcast skies, a lot of rain, and it's never hot or cold, it's just kind of chilly the whole time. But then again, there are some sunny days, so there's that to think about.
English weather is usually pretty moderate and kind of on the cold or overcast side. When I was there though, I was there in the middle of the summer and there was a big heat wave that lasted like the whole seven weeks I was there and so it was really hot. The thing is they don't have like sprinkler systems in their parks a lot because it rains so much and so the grass was dying, turning brown and also most places don't have air conditioning like you know hotels, houses, that kind of thing. Museums often do have air conditioning but most places just get really hot when it's hot because they don't have air conditioning in a lot of these older buildings. So when it is hot, there's not a lot you can do about it. You kind of are just hot there and humid.
