Travel tips - Thailand Video Transcripts

This is so important. When you're in Thailand, you will go to places and there will be lines of taxis and tuk-tuks or like the little scooters willing to take you places and there are really aggressive taxi drivers and tuk-tuk drivers who want to take you. Man, they will try to rob you so hard. They will try to like not actually rob you but really like make the price like 10 times what you should be paying. And so the super important thing if you're in a taxi, make sure they're using the meter and you're paying them for the meter and just make sure that you're aware because they will really try to get as much money from you as they can. So watch out for that. It's similar in a lot of Asian countries but really watch out for that because they will try to take a lot more money than you really should be giving them.

The thing about Thailand that was hard for me to adjust to was like the whole street law situation. You would see cars packed up for like miles on highways. So one thing I would advise is to just be prepared for a lot of traffic and to quickly adjust to that.

I would just remember to be respectful and to not try to make a scene or stand out too much and just to be safe, to know where you are and to know your surroundings. Generally Thai people are really really nice and tend to not be very aggressive at all, but you never know. So just remember to just be aware and be vigilant.

Thailand is generally a very safe place. I wouldn't be too worried about it, but a couple important things to always remember are bike safety. The drivers in Thailand are crazy, especially the motorcycles. They have people zipping in and out everywhere, thousands of motorcycles, and also drinking is a big thing, so you just have to be very careful. Always wear your helmet, and just stay safe while you're on your bike.
