If you wanted to go to a place that has a lot of cultural history, you honestly could probably not go to a better place than Thailand. It's been around for about a thousand years. It started out as a group of kingdoms and then about 700 years ago some guy named Pakunrangkhamhang, he was the king, he invented the Thai alphabet and he also colonialized a lot of these kingdoms to become what is now known as Thailand. In the past it was called Siam, so Siamese cats, those are from Thailand, but it is one of the only countries in the world that has never been conquered by another country as far as European influence goes, so it is just full of cultural history. The capital's moved about four times but it's been in Bangkok for the last 200 years or so and it has a lot of influence from India and China. I would say the religion part mostly came from India.
