Language tips - Sweden Video Transcripts

Every Swede speaks English and so it's easy to use that as a crutch. Also, if the culture is still the same, I mean it will be, there are just so many immigrants in Sweden and a lot of them don't speak great Swedish and so it's interesting because you don't get huge exposure to native-speaking Swedes all the time. The other piece of advice I would give is pay attention to long and short vowels in pronunciation. You'll learn more about that when you get there. It's something that a lot of people struggle on but I feel like it makes a big difference in your pronunciation.

I love Swedish. I think it is so cool. I think it can be hard at first when you're learning a new language. I mean, any new language is tricky, but I feel like Swedish is one of the easier ones. It has a Germanic root, so it is very similar to English. There's so many words that are the same. The grammar is fairly easy. The the is a little bit weird in Swedish. The the instead of at the beginning is at the end of the word. I remember thinking that was strange, but it's such a cool language. I love it so much. I feel like you just got to keep trying and keep trying with any language, and it's so annoying because in Sweden, everyone wants to speak English with you because you're from America, but if you just keep trying and keep speaking it as much as you can, it'll come really fast, so.

Language tips would just be to not get discouraged. Know that you're gonna learn it eventually. I learned best. Find out how you learn best. I learned best by talking to people and just by being ingrained in the culture. I would say also do that because it helps. I don't know, just love the language. Love the level you're at and look forward to getting better.

Swedish people are very, very good at English and everyone can communicate with you if you go there to travel. However, it means a lot to them if you learn their language, even if it's just a phrase or two. It's a really good way to connect with people if you make an effort to learn their language. So even if you're just visiting, for sure make an effort to learn a couple phrases because it will help you to connect with the Swedes in a deeper level.
