I think a major culture tip that I would have is to not assume where people are from. Their accents can seem pretty similar to each other. Some Scottish people have very light Scottish accents that can sometimes be very difficult to decipher between an English accent. So a tip is to just simply not assume where they're located because they will get very, very offended. I asked one particular gentleman what part of England he was from and he was clearly from Scotland and he got very upset with me that I assumed he was from England. So do not assume where people are from. Just simply ask where they're from and you'll be able to figure that out by just talking to them. But don't ever assume on your own accord.

Understand that a lot of the things that they have there are going to be very similar to things in the United States. However, most of the time it's going to be a little bit smaller. So square footage in houses in Scotland as opposed to houses that we would usually have in the United States is going to be smaller. The fridge won't be incredibly massive holding all of these types of things that we would be used to in the United States. And so one thing that's really important when talking to people is probably not to talk about all of the things and the blessings that you have, because it's just a smaller country. It's still an incredible place, but to just be polite and to be sensitive and don't just talk about you all the time or to make a comment about how the apartment's not as big as what you're used to. But just to be kind and cordial and all of those things will really go a long way for the people.
