I got into my brother's Jeep which is quite high and I was excited to see him so I've got in the car quite quickly and whether it was the way I turned but when I went to step out of the Jeep my leg completely gave, I couldn't weight bear on it, therefore the whole of my leg flared up and my toes started to go to blue, started to go blue, so I had to go to accident and emergency and they basically said it was a sciatic nerve that got trapped, so this is not a very nice experience and also sometimes I feel now if I sit too long then stand this causes flares up, so I have to really be careful how I sit.

Flare-up stories, ugh. I took my trash can out one day and I twisted wrong and I ended up not being able to sit or lay in the bed or sit hardly at all for about two and a half weeks. It was the most excruciating pain I have ever felt, worse than when I couldn't walk. One day, one morning I woke up and I had been cleaning some baseboards and twisted the wrong way and I had complete nerve compression on my left side, my left leg. I couldn't walk and it was terrifying because at that point I didn't understand that scoliosis was as serious as it was and my doctors at the time didn't seem to think it was necessary to tell me this could be happening. So when you're in a flare-up you just roll with the punches, you do the best you can in that moment and you do what you need to do to get some relief.
