My experience with specialists has been, you know, hit or miss. I think the biggest thing with some of the specialists I've seen is their lack of empathy, I think. Feeling like I'm not believed when I tell them how much pain I'm in. And the things with my muscles, I have stuff going on my muscles I don't understand. So the best experiences I have had with chiropractors, I have two neurosurgeons I truly and absolutely love and respect. I have a wonderful pain management team. They're incredible. I'm very, very lucky to have had some good experiences. But I did learn that you have to be your own advocate a lot of times. And here's a little tip. If somebody, my doctor refuses to do a test, or you ask them to check something, ask them to document it so it's documented in your file. They seem to look at it a little differently when they have to document that stuff.

My experience with specialists is to be sure that your specialist is truly an orthopedic scoliosis specialist. Many people just go to a normal orthopedic surgeon and unfortunately these surgeons do not have the training and experience that they need to operate on those of us with scoliosis. If you want to have a better outcome, the technique and the experience and the training of the orthopedic scoliosis specialist is what makes the biggest difference for outcomes in surgery. Also my best advice for finding a specialist would be go to the scoliosis research society's website and they have a search engine there where you can find a specialist in your state or country.

My experience with specialists are basically the people who made my back braces. So it basically said that they were chiropractors and my family said that chiropractors aren't good for scoliosis and I mean they made braces that didn't work for me. So I mean they were really nice it's just they didn't work for my degrees on my back and it didn't really work over that time.
