Common misconceptions about scoliosis. People don't think it hurts. People don't think it's bad. People in my family think, used to think that I was just lying, I was just being lazy or it is the most frustrating thing that in our medical community, they don't talk about the realness of scoliosis. You've got to think about this. Our spines are curvy, like your spine is supposed to be straight and it's curving and it's squishing things and it's pressing on nerves and you have to understand what no pain feels like. It's unreal, it's unbelievably painful and that adds to mental health when people don't believe you or see you in your illness and for what it is. So yeah, something to consider.

Common misconceptions about scoliosis is that people think it hurts or it doesn't hurt. Everyone is different with scoliosis. Some people hurt. Some people think their back hurts. Some people think their back doesn't hurt. Personally, my back doesn't hurt. My back just aches. It doesn't hurt like badly, but everyone's different no matter how old you are, how young you are. One of the most common misconceptions with scoliosis is that it does not cause pain. And some doctors have the audacity to even tell people to this day that your pain is not being caused by scoliosis. You know, I say imagine your spine being all curved and pulling on your muscles and impeding on your nerves and possibly even impinging on some of your organs. And you tell me that scoliosis doesn't cause pain. And I just say for those people that don't understand the pain that we live in on a daily basis is that you've just never walked a day in our shoes and you just will never fully understand. But I want those of you out there with scoliosis and suffering and chronic pain to know that I understand your pain and I validate your pain. And if you can't find a doctor to validate your pain, then you need to move on to a different doctor.
