In order to pursue this career, I took a course on proofreading specifically for working with court reporters and doing, you know, legal documents and that type of thing. So there was that training and it also touched on the spelling and punctuation and grammar and all of the different things that that involves. I took many courses online, free courses that practiced all the different aspects of punctuation, whether it was commas, apostrophes, hyphens, colons, the proper use of numbers in documents and that sort of thing. So there is a lot to learn and you want to make sure that you're good at noticing mistakes. If you're the type of person that notices mistakes when you read a book and you catch that type of thing. If you don't catch that sort of thing, this would not be a good career for you.
