Portugal is really one of the oldest countries in Europe. It was so, it was all the boundaries that we have, that they have today, was set back in 1066. And in the north, by Porto, there's a town called Guimarães, which was the first capital. Porto was also capital of Portugal for a time until Lisbon. And there's a lot of old cool castles you can go to, a lot of history. The Portuguese people are very proud of their history.

Portugal has the oldest military alliance in the world with England. Not the United Kingdom, but England specifically, dating back hundreds of years, and that goes to today. There's still a strong relationship between the UK and Portugal. And then also, after the Napoleonic invasions in the early 19th century, there has ever since been a strong French connection, and that has even had an influence on the language with certain portmanteaus, or imported words.
