Growing up, my dad's side of the family was kind of scattered around different parts of the country and his family had always done a family reunion where his aunts and uncles and his cousins all got together and we've continued it down to younger generations. But they'd get together for a week in the summer, usually close to a lake or a national park or some kind of destination or a ski resort and we'd all stay in these blocks of rooms or condos or cabins and we would plan activities a couple times a day where we'd have a family night or a game night. We'd go to church together, we'd go exploring the national park or hiking or whatever was close by together with options for lots of different age and activity levels. We'd have group activities during the day and game nights at night and it was a treasure for me to be able to develop relationships and have fun memories with people that I never would have known otherwise.

One of the coolest family reunions that we had, I have a huge family, extended family. My dad has seven brothers and sisters, so we have a huge family. And we did this thing called Peterson University and basically we had like each daughter or son or son-in-law or daughter-in-law choose a topic that they wanted to teach about and then all the kids and all the people like in our family would just go around to like these different classes. So we had like one of my aunts did an almond almond milk making class. My dad did like a paper airplane folding class and my grandpa taught about tools and so it was really cool to just kind of see all of their skills that they had and be able to for them to share that with us.

My mom is really good at coming up with like family reunion ideas and something that's really fun is like tie-dying shirts I know a lot of families will like order shirts for family reunion but I think that tie-dying shirts is way more fun and like interactive and It's a great time and everyone can kind of express themselves in their shirt, so It's kind of fun

At our family reunion we had every different family have their own colored t-shirts and all the children had numbers on their shirts from oldest to youngest and it was really really fun. We had a caricaturist come and caricature each family or we just got to have caricatures done which was really fun.

I think my favorite family reunions have been held near, like, a national park. There are tons in Utah, or even a national forest. There's a place called Harriman, I believe, Harriman National Forest up in Idaho. They have accommodations for family reunions. I know I've stayed at, like, Brianhead in Utah, Cedar Breaks. I've stayed at Bear Lake. There's lots of different places where you can accommodate a family, but just somewhere with something you can do outside, because I think that's suitable for lots of people with different interests. And for families, it's family-friendly. Anywhere that has, like, a lake is fun, but I think my favorite was probably when we stayed at Brianhead.
