If you're moving a house and people, like a random stranger, comes up and asks you to help, if you feel safe telling him yes, tell him that you won't pay him, because a lot of people in Panama will offer help and then expect to be paid afterwards. I remember I got robbed my first time moving because these guys offered to help us, and then they basically held us. They were holding us at, like, knife point until we paid them. So if anyone offers to help you move, tell them you don't have any money to pay them. Just always stay in lit areas.

My brother and I went and lived in Panama for about three months. We were interns for a time there, and we went packing all of our Bermuda shorts, all our nice short sleeve clothing, because assuming Panama, it's boiling hot. And when we got there, we actually had to go out and buy some pants, buy some jeans, because nobody wears shorts, at least in the city. Of course, people do sometimes, not always, but for walking around town, for visiting places, for living there, you'll feel more at home. You'll fit in better if you're wearing jeans. Sounds crazy. I know that you'd think they'd all wear shorts because it's so hot, but they pride themselves. I think it's kind of a fashion thing. They just like to look nice. Panamanians really do dress well.
