Very few people quit ENT. It's usually they downgrade to working less. I have a lot of friends that are now moms and they tend to work a few less hours just because they're mothers. I have known a few others that have cut back. Usually the older they get, that's typical, but usually people don't quit this profession as much. The benefit of ENT is that we take minimal call. Our call isn't as terrible as general surgery and some of the other surgical specialties like orthopedics. Their call is pretty incessant. Ours is pretty good, so it tends to keep the longevity of the career intact. Hopefully that helps.
