Make sure your application highlights your clinical skills, your research, your passion for the field, and practice interviewing. I think that's one thing, if I could go back and do better, would be my interview skills. When you network well with others and you get along well with others, you'll be that type of person that people want you to be a part of their program. Once you have those skills, I think you'll have a good leg up on things.
