Probably the best advice I could give you for packing for Norway, at least for me, was to find a really good rain jacket and a really good pair of rain pants. Especially if you're in any of the coastal cities, kind of spring or early winter, you will get rained on quite a bit. I bought some from Helly Hansen when I got to Norway. I absolutely loved them. I still actually own them. They have held up very well over 20 years and they were the best thing I ever bought to help me stay dry during the spring and early fall to early winter period.

Cold weather gear is bulky and Norwegians know how to make it. So don't buy any coats or boots prior to going. Get them in the country.

If you're packing for Norway, you want warm clothes. Norwegians have a saying that there's no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing, and that's very true. Plan to purchase overcoats, probably shoes, hats, gloves, purchase them there.
