So my number one tip for success for musicians is build your network. Just like in any other job, it's often the people that you know that help you get success. Whether it's, hey, we worked together in the past, I've got this great gig, come, you know, come play with me or come sing with me again. To, hey, I, gosh, I've got these great lyrics, but it's for this kind of music that I'm, that I don't write. And, hey, I know just the person to send that off to. Just doing everything you can from going to conferences, to joining online forums, and just reaching out to your favorite musicians sometimes is all it takes. Say, hey, you know, there's something I, these are, I can help you with. These are my credentials. So building your musical network is only going to help you.

Biggest tip for success I can give you has to do with practice habits. Practice, as I mentioned to a lot of people, doesn't just make perfect. Practice makes permanent far more than it makes perfect. It's how you practice that matters, and that includes practicing performing. Record yourself. Practice in front of people. Practice on different pianos. You got to learn to adapt as a professional pianist if that's what you want to do. Um, I have found so much benefit from myself doing that, and I realized, oh, there's little tiny details here and there that I can correct for my technique to make this easier to play, um, between these two different pianos that feel so different. Sometimes the timbre is different. Sometimes it's built different. Sometimes the weightedness of the keys is a little bit different. Sometimes one of them is broken or something. These are things that you got to be able to learn to adapt to, and practicing performing, especially recording yourself, is one of the best ways to get used to adapting like that.

Whatever your particular passion is in music, my tip for success is to not narrow yourself too much. Allow yourself to be open to a wide range of knowledge and experiences. For example, I teach piano lessons, I compose, I arrange, I'm a choir director, I've taught in public schools, I've taught at a university, I've been an accompanist for a drawing on my experience from those other things. I feel like I'm a better piano teacher because I've done all these other things. When I compose, I draw on my experience as a teacher or as a choir director or as all these other things, and I'm aware of that highly. So I'm really grateful that I've been able to do so many different things, and I feel like if I had had a narrow focus, I would be limited and not very successful or happy.
