They say it's a kissing disease because you get it through kissing, like sharing saliva. But there's a reason why a lot of college kids get it, other than that aspect, it's because if you share chapstick, drinks, or food with anyone that has had mono, it is so contagious that you are most likely to get it. So a lot of people get mono just because they shared a drink with someone that had it.
